Hi, my real name is Sky, so this blog isn't named Big Sky Country because I like Montana (even though I do). And no, my parents are not Hippies. Actually, I'm named after Sky King (the old TV Show from the 50's & 60's http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043232/). The guy who played Sky King is from Montana however and so there is a nice connect there.
This site is dedicated to the Outdoors. As I like to say, "If it's outside, you can find it here." So you are going to see blogs about outdoor sports, storm chasing, scenic adventures and the like. I hope you will come back often. Oh and in case you are wondering about that beautiful lake, it's in Canada; Peyto Lake
Skyisms
I do not think that word means what you think it means: catty: meaning-slyly malicious; spiteful should mean-something resembling a big fat, fluffy cat. After a huge meal, I layed out on the couch feeling mighty catty. pupitre': meaning-student desk (Spanish) should mean-tired; can occasionally be used as a curse word and sounds a little nicer. I'm so pupitre' I can't stand up any longer. Oh pupitre', it's Tate!
detritus: meaning-leaf litter and other organic matter intermixed with soil should mean-a result that is not good When the AC in my car went out it was a detritus.
Words Sky likes to use: Caly: someone who is from California; the way they do things in California flummoxed: to bewilder; confound; confuse
juggernaut: an unstoppable force
perusal: poring over, scrutiny (it just rolls off the tongue nicely)
Shadowfax:Gandalf's mighty steed in Lord of the Rings. (saying Shadowfax is tons of fun and a good name for any pet. Try using a Sean Connery accent when you say it.)
pontificate: to speak in a pompous or dogmatic manner (know anybody who likes to do this)
Skyisms at their finest: "Dude, you're so Caly."
"Whoever has the gold makes the rules."
"When I send out a distress beacon, I need an immediate response."
"It just comes to me."
"I am a juggernaut!"
"Throw me the whip, I give you the idol."
"As a man thinks in his heart, so is he."
"Giddy up!"
"Information will be given on a need to know basis."
